This is a relaxed and supportive class for birthing person and baby. It's designed to flow with a recovering postpartum body, and baby's developmental stage.
Babies respond to touch, your voice, and eye contact. During months 0-6 your baby gets most of their stimulation visually, but they benefit from gentle massage drawing awareness to gross motor functions, and adjusting to time on their tummy. By six months your baby may be sitting up, rolling over, and engaging with you and others during practice.
Postpartum bodies are healing bodies. The physical aspect of life after birth requires major adjustments. Your ligaments stretched during the last few weeks of pregnancy, and now is the time they slowly lose elasticity. We focus on joint health by muscle engagement, and draw bodily awareness using breath work as a guide.
Lindsay will guide you through postures making any necessary adjustments for post-natal healing. This class is open to beginners and experienced yoga practitioners. Modifications and posture options are encouraged based on your energy level, and where you are with the recovery process, including post-cesarean and vaginal birth.
Weekly class (session) meets for 8 weeks. You have the option to register for all 8, save a little money, or pay a drop-in fee each time. Either way, you're welcome to join in, spend time with others, and reflect on newborn parenting.
*Feeding, changing, caring for baby is welcome at any point during class.
